the Library / concept

original proposal/ideation, inspired by the Greek myth of Atlas

There is a lone library in a forest, and no matter where the newcomer walks, they will always end up at the entrance of the library. When they enter the library, the shelves contain the world’s knowledge. Anything and everything can be found within the library. Only one other person is in the library, and they introduce themselves as the caretaker of the building. The newcomer tries to figure out how to leave the library, and the caretaker offers to help them. As they work together combing the library, the two of them get closer, and they open up to each other.

Once they figure out the conditions that allow them to leave the library, the caretaker asks if the newcomer has to leave. This is where the story can diverge. If the visitor leaves, they take the place of the caretaker, and the librarian can return home. The visitor can also refuse to stay and return to their world which leaves the librarian behind to wait for another visitor that is willing to take their place.
